Apple's secret tax bolthole revealed | Bangkok Post: news


A Barclays bank cash machine (ATM) is seen at St Helier, Jersey, Britain, recently revealed as the secret Apple tax haven. Apple restructured its Irish operations by the start of 2015, including securing tax residency in Jersey for its Irish subsidiaries investigated by the Senate, according to a group of international journalists that obtained the leaked documents. But Apple said the corporate structure changes in 2015 were to "ensure that tax obligations and payments to the US were not reduced." Nike's ownership of its famous "Swoosh" logo for markets outside the United States was held through a subsidiary in Bermuda. Asked by the ICIJ about the matter, Nike was quoted as saying in a statement that it "fully complies with tax regulations."
